| Audran & Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s Bartok! The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra is located on the island of Tasmania, southeast of the Australian continent. 47-member orchestra is the smallest of the six orchestras founded by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), but is widely recognized as an internationally renowned orchestra of the highest standard. The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra is proud of its unique artistic identity nurtured by the land and people of Tasmania, and is known for its active overseas touring and recording activities. Ivin Audran, born in Norway in 1956, has been the Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra since 2020. He began his conducting career as a violinist and concertmaster of the Bergen Philharmonic before being recommended by Mariss Jansons. In this album, Swiss conductor Paul Sacher presents two works commissioned by Bartók in the 1930s: “Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta” and “Divertimento”.Audran studied with Yehudi Menuhin and Sándor Weg, two musicians closely associated with Bartók, when he was a violin student, and he was very enthusiastic about this recording project. He says that he worked on this recording project with even greater enthusiasm. Tokyo M-Plus
