The beginning of the third movement is particularly moving, when a double bass echoes the famous children’s song “Frère Jacques” in a minor key. Frank Sanderell, solo double bass, and Christian Hartmann, solo timpani and percussion, present this passage in our “Classics of the Classics” format.
