Einaudi vs Einaudi, a new eight-track EP available on standard black vinyl, is the latest extraordinary collaboration between world-renowned composer Ludovico Einaudi and his son Leo Einaudi. This unique project reimagines Ludovico’s recent chart-topping album The Summer Portraits – a deeply personal work inspired by childhood memories of family holidays.Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, producer and arranger Leo brings his diverse musical expertise to these masterful reworks. With a career spanning songwriting, film composition, production and live music, he has collaborated with his father on numerous occasions, contributing to film scores and multidisciplinary theatrical projects as well as recorded music. “There has always been a strong understanding between us,” explains Ludovico. “Leo possesses an artistic sensitivity that I perceive as deeply personal.” Leo adds: “Reimagining my father’s songs became a journey of constant discovery through the endless details at the heart of his music. It allowed me to see new sides of it, to let those elements enter my own imagination, and to shape them into a new form.”
On Einaudi vs Einaudi, Leo takes the lush sound and subtle electronica of tracks such as first single “Rose Bay” and further enhances them. Here, driving rhythms pierce the stillness of the original version, taking the immersive sound and textures of this hypnotic piece to another place.
