Club life has always represented freedom for Gray, and her music reflects this by blending genres like acid house, nu-disco, future garage, and psychedelic trance. For her refined sound, she drew inspiration from Kylie Minogue, Robyn, and Ray of Light-era Madonna, collaborating with notable co-writers such as Justin Tranter, Sega Bodega, and Alex Metric. The album title, Louder, Please, reflects her “maximalist but polite” personality, combining a “heavy” sound with a “sweetness.” Gray discusses several key tracks from the deluxe edition: “Damn” is a maximalist stream of consciousness declaring her arrival; “Free” is a more grounded, “angelic” track; “Wet & Wild” captures a dramatic yet playful club exit; “Just Two” is a cheeky, ’90s-inspired track about finding your person; “Tectonic” uses nature imagery to describe separation; “Party People” is a nursery-rhyme-like track inspired by her party-loving friends; “Angel of Satisfaction” is her debate on the scary side of industry success; “Switch” marks her transition into the artist she envisioned becoming; “Hackney Wick” is a nostalgic, ethereal snapshot of fun nights in East London; “First” is a track about competition in relationships, with hints of drum ‘n’ bass and garage; “Everything Changes (But I Won’t)” is the sole full love song, describing constancy amidst life changes; and the title track “Louder, Please” serves as a “warm hug” and closer, inspired by her childhood request to play music louder.
