本专辑收录的《杰罗修斯之梦》（The Dream of Gerontius）是爱德华・埃尔加（Edward Elgar）于1900年创作的清唱剧（Op.38），被誉为 “埃尔加最杰出的作品”。作品以约翰・亨利・纽曼（John Henry Newman）的同名诗歌为文本，讲述了垂死之人杰罗修斯的灵魂在守护天使的陪伴下穿越生死、走向神性的旅程，通过嘲讽的恶魔合唱、庄严的天使颂歌与深情的独唱段落，构建出兼具宗教庄严与情感温度的音乐叙事。

伦敦爱乐乐团及合唱团（London Philharmonic Orchestra & Choir）成立于1932年，是英国最具代表性的交响乐团之一，以兼具力量与细腻的演奏风格著称，常年活跃于伦敦皇家阿尔伯特音乐厅、科文特花园歌剧院等顶级场馆，且频繁参与 BBC 逍遥音乐节等国际知名音乐活动。伦敦爱乐合唱团（London Philharmonic Choir）作为乐团的专属合唱团体，成立于1946年，以清晰的声部层次与饱满的音色表现力闻名，在浪漫主义清唱剧领域积累了深厚的演绎经验，与乐团长期协作完成多部大型声乐作品的录制与演出，其对埃尔加作品中合唱段落的诠释尤为贴合作曲家的晚期浪漫主义风格。
